Hello Keto!

Hello, I’m Sheila. I’m a wife, mom, teacher, writer, development communicator, designer, food blogger, and planner addict! We all wear many hats, but this should never deter us from becoming healthy. Since I started Keto in 2016, I have lost over 30 lbs! If I can do it, so can you!

My Keto Journey

When I first started researching about Keto in 2015, I was trying to get pregnant. I had PCOS and my OB-Gyn, the lovely Dr. Rowena Dueñas, suggested that I go Low-Carb. So I researched about low carb diets and ended up reading the r/keto subreddit. At first, I was hesitant to try it because it was so controversial. I mean, eating fats to burn fat? But after months of tests, checkups and tracking my ovulation, I was getting depressed about my TTC journey. The only thing I haven’t tried is going Low Carb. After 6 months TTC, we stopped taking meds. We tried to live a healthier lifestyle. Five months later, I got pregnant after doing a month of Strict Keto.

Keto After Childbirth

I had a beautiful normal pregnancy. I didn’t gain much weight while pregnant but I did gain a lot post-partum. I have mild Seasonal Affective Disorder and it was winter. I also experienced a bit of Post-Partum Depression and difficulties with breastfeeding.

I was sleep-deprived, hungry, struggling to produce milk. So I turned to my favorite comfort food: chocolate. The moment I woke up, I grabbed a bar. Feeling hungry, grab another bar. I convinced myself that it was okay because I was feeding two people with my body. This went on for at least six months before I saw a photo of myself. I was HUGE. That was my wake up call.

Living and Loving Keto

I’ll be honest that it took a bit of work before I finally got back to Keto. I struggled the first year because I just didn’t have the time and energy to meal prep. But when my baby turned 18 months and became more independent, I decided to try doing Keto again.

This time, I wake up earlier every day so that I can prepare my Keto meals. I revived my IG account so that I could post for accountability. I connected with other Keto moms and this made such a big difference. Suddenly, I wasn’t alone. I’m happy with this “Way of Eating”.

Keto Couple

After the first month of my Keto reboot, my husband decided to do Keto too! You guys, this is a game changer. It is so much easier now to prepare Keto food because I don’t have to think about two different menus. I also got to make keto lunchboxes, which is fun! I love that I could finally talk to him about Keto, and he gets what I’m talking about right away because he reads up on Keto too.

Sharing the Keto Love

So now, I’ve decided to go public so I can share our Keto journey. I post my daily Keto meals on IG, and I’m active on Keto and Intermittent Fasting International (K.I.F.I.) on Facebook. This way of eating has given me a new lease on life, a better understanding of my body, and a positive outlook. I hope to share this great vibe with you! Welcome to my Keto Blog! Let’s keep on Keto Winning!
